Barbara Yaross works primarily in painting and drawing media. She has exhibited widely throughout the Chicago area and in New York. She recieved her undergraduate degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She also studied at the New York Studio School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture with painters Leland Bell and Gretna Campbell, and later earned her MFA at Northwestern University where she was a teaching assistant. She has taught painting and drawing at Northwestern University, Columbia College, the Evanston Art Center, and the The Anne Blitstien Institute in Chicago.

Barbara began painting in oils at 15. Her interest in watercolor developed in 2007 during a workshop with Olive Ayhens, and it is now an integral a part of her working media.  Many of her watercolors are also available as fine art giclee prints.
 
Barbara Yaross has earned several awards, including a 2012 Illinois Arts Council Grant.
